As more and more space becomes less accessible to people in big
city-centers, like Madrid, Spain, architects are in constant search for
design solutions. One smart example comes from the offices of Beriot
Bernardini Arquitectos, who managed to squeeze an entire functional
apartment into a very small place. This best example of making use of a
tiny space to its fullest potential uses specially crafted furniture and
plywood to mask entire parts of the house, like the kitchen area.
Suited for one person, the compact loft has a spacious lounging
area and all kind of storage units. For example, the stairs to the first
floor that includes a bedroom (right above the bathroom and masked
kitchen appliances downstairs), doubles as a drawer and wardrobe. This
concept of smart storage solution is what makes this design one to last a
long time in the future.

This great Handmade Gourd Lamps is made by Robert D (Gourdlight), which has small perforations on its surface for giving the impression of original lighting. The designer says the lampshades are made of gourd- superb exotic fruit native in Africa, and at a very early time spread through the world by human migrations. The design of every lamp is accomplished after attentively selecting dried shells of gourd fruit and drilling decorations into them.
Different elements and colors of the lampshades are created by carving deeper or shallower into the layers of wood. Every lamp has more than a thousand of perforations in different diameters which allows light to sparkle through the lampshade and cast the elements on the surrounding walls. Lamps are finished of with jewelery waxed strings which complete the lamps design. Each of the lamp is different because shape was basically created by nature and their patterns are always diverse.
